In 2027 Rendezvous will launch a new initiative called “50 States” which will be a two-year residency where Rendezvous commissions a queer artist from each state to create an interdisciplinary artwork exploring a little known queer history from their state. This residency will include a year of funded research culminating in a public lecture in Houston followed by a year of development and fabrication culminating in an exhibition in Houston. 2027 will start with one resident artist, and ultimately we plan on having two concurrent residents each year.

This initiative takes over Nick Vaughan & Jake Margolin’s “50 States”. Over the last decade Nick & Jake created six installations exploring little-known histories from Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
